Subject outline

Podiatrists are required to use clinical skills to manage a variety of foot and ankle conditions. In this foundation clinical practice subject, essential knowledge and skills for safe and effective clinical practice are taught. Specifically, students will learn about basic instrument handling, infection control and safe work principles. This subject will prepare students for the clinical subjects that are delivered later in the course. The concepts will be introduced in workshops and consolidated through virtual clinical experiences. Professional accreditation requires a minimum level of clinical exposure. Students' attendance at professional placements will contribute to meeting this requirement for professional recognition as a podiatrist.
