Subject outline
In this subject you will develop a comprehensive understanding of the management of ophthalmic cases that will span the refractive, age-related and systemic disorders that affect the eye. You will develop an understanding of the epidemiology, causes and impact of vision impairment and psychosocial impact of ophthalmic treatment protocols and irreversible vision loss. Using an inquiry-based learning design, you will integrate theoretical concepts with clinical techniques to apply optical and non-optical, pharmaceutical, surgical and technological aids in the management and rehabilitation of patients with ophthalmic pathologies and low vision. The knowledge and skills gained will equip you to progress to the Orthographically Practicum subjects and will be applied in clinical placements.
