Subject outline

In this Professional Practice subject, you will integrate occupational therapy theoretical knowledge with practical skills. The focus in this Professional Practice subject is on the development of core occupational therapy skills. You will be required to demonstrate skills in information gathering, service provision/ development, recording and reporting and practice these skills in a sensitive, ethical and professional manner. You are expected to describe and apply reasoning processes, including relevant conceptual and professional practice theories and frameworks, and demonstrate self-management skills and effective communication with key stakeholders.

Students must meaningfully engage with and complete all progression tasks, Peer Assisted Learning tasks and pass all of the assessment tasks prescribed in the PebblePad Professional Practice Portfolio assessment task in order to pass the subject. This is to ensure that students: 1) meet the required minimum number of World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) practice hours; 2) develop the necessary skills for subsequent placements and 3) satisfy occupational therapy national professional accreditation standards.
