Subject outline

Education in Nursing and Midwifery focuses on preparing clinicians for their role as facilitator, teacher, mentor, preceptor and clinical supervisor. Students gain an understanding of factors influential to learning in the clinical environment alongside how to design education encounters to maximise learning and minimise barriers. There are opportunities to observe, discuss, analyse and reflect upon contemporary clinical education practices and models. The subject focus includes utilising education theories and principles of instructional design to develop a learning program in the clinical setting. Students align identified outcomes with relevant teaching and learning activities, assessments and established evaluation approaches within the program.
