Subject outline

In this subject, you will use your professional knowledge of children and families to plan and implement safe and effective care for families with young children in the community. You will undertake clinical practice in community-based maternal and child health and education settings. This subject enables you to assess the health and development of children and maternal wellbeing, using appropriate screening and assessment tools. You will build on past learning to develop advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills and develop personal learning goals. The subject is delivered via a flexible online mode comprising on-campus seminars and workshops, online learning modules via LMS and online virtual classrooms.

Twelve 1.00 hour problem based learning per week on weekdays during the day from week 10 to week 23 and delivered via online.

Eighteen 1.00 day placement - off site per study period on weekdays during the day from week 10 to week 23 and delivered via face-to-face.
140 hours off-site clinical placement preferably at least 2 days per week for 9 weeks in consultation with placement agencies.
