Subject outline

In this subject you will have the opportunity to extend your knowledge and skills to complex and dynamic patient situations. Through lectures, online activities, workshops, clinical skills laboratories/simulations, and a clinical placement you will focus on the assessment and interventions aimed at arresting deterioration of a patient's health. The clinical practicum will allow you to experience high acuity care settings and assume the responsibility of caring for individuals who may experience a deterioration in health. To achieve the learning outcomes of this subject you will be expected to complete a range of written, verbal and clinical assessments within a 12-week period.

02. Apply the clinical reasoning cycle to provide person-centred care for individuals experiencing a deterioration in health in order to provide safe nursing care.
03. Demonstrate competence in technical skills when providing person-centred care for individuals experiencing a deterioration in health.
04. Manage the interactions with patient, family, and the health care team during a clinical deterioration.
