Subject outline

This subject is designed to equip students with the skills necessary to successfully study and achieve in their course. Students will learn legal research skills relevant to the practice of Criminology. This will be guided and supported through applied learning activities to examine and apply effective techniques of time management and develop the capacity to work effectively as part of a team, and to practice critical thinking and reflection. The subject will have a strong emphasis on the development of appropriate oral and written communication skills, including grammar, referencing, essay and report writing, presentation and conflict resolution skills. In-class activities and assessment tasks will be directed to building and assessing these skills in a Criminology context, using practical examples and current issues in the discipline.
