Subject outline

This subject examines topical issues and contested debates in the study of biotechnology and the law, both nationally and internationally. It adopts a framework approach to analysing the relationship between law and biotechnology, taking account of ethical, social, cultural and economic contexts. Given the topical nature of the subject, the specific topics covered may change from time to time. In addition to providing an introduction to key aspects of health law an regulation relevant to the subject, specialist topics to be covered may include assisted reproduction, reproductive technologies, human tissue technologies, death technologies, ownership of the body, bio banks, genetics and the law, health, intellectual property and biotechnology.
