Students are introduced to the practical aspects of making a media product, from researching the current media market to develop a solid pitch for a new product, to executing the final design and delivery of the product. Along the way students are taught basic technical skills in design principles and editorial principles in order to deliver their product to industry standards. Students work in teams to create a mock-up magazine, moving from the basic concept to production using industry-standard software Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. Students are also given opportunities to develop and hone their writing, research, editing and sub-editing skills.
