Subject outline
Critical thinking is a key skill in the modern information world, whether you're starting your own business, buying a house, or designing federal policy. Being able to identify an opportunity or challenge, contextualise it through background scoping, and then complete a research project that produces a critically informed and evidence based conclusion is invaluable. Students will start by identifying an area of interest for their research project, before conducting a preliminary scoping report and applied research proposal. Online resources and teaching support the acquisition and development of core research and communication skills throughout this scoping and research design process. Following discursive feedback on their proposals students then undertake their research project, recording and presenting the process and results through a reflective curated portfolio.
