Subject outline

In this subject we continue our journey with the development of listening and reading comprehension skills and will focus on the development of active language skills in both oral and written forms. This includes the study of modern Hindi grammar and vocabulary, and training in and reflection on language learning strategies which will be provided every week. We will also study two Hindi stories written by ASHK. We will explore issues related to the parallel Sanskrit and Urdu vocabularies, the structure of complex sentences and the use of idioms and proverbs. Students will also reflect on concepts such as perceptions of the partition of India and Pakistan and how they are dealt with in literature and popular culture and will watch Bhag Milkha Bhag film based on this topic.
