Subject outline
In this subject you analyse, interpret and use coded and non-coded health data beyond the treatment and disease/operation classification stages. Key emphases include the identification, critical evaluation and objective uses of health data in epidemiological and clinical research; health data and statistics applications in health care management and clinical decision-making; speciality performance indicators; identification and resolution of regulatory, ethical and management issues surrounding registries, health databases and clinical trials; and evaluating the quality , integrity and comparability of coded data and their statistical outcomes. You will become competent in health data analytics through analysing, critiquing, applying and advising upon health data in clinical, epidemiological, and healthcare management environments, and in the context of state and national population health monitoring.
