01. To explain the basic principles underlying demographic trends in an ageing population and the implications of population ageing
02. To compare and contrast the four main perspectives of ageing (sociological, biological, psychological and economic and how older people may be viewed differently at different times and from different perspectives
03. To examine the frequency, risks and preventability of common health problems of older people and to analyse the differences between ageing and disease
04. To appraise the main social resources of older community-dwelling Australians and the concept of social resources and its relationship to the health and wellbeing of older people
05. To critically assess diversity in ageing populations in the context of demographic changes, heterogeneity of experiences and individual preferences
