Subject outline

In this subject you will explore your resources and constraints in work with families as a means to further enhance practice. You will reflect on the influence of your family of origin, culture, life experience, professional history and other contextual influences including your current work place and role. You will deepen your knowledge of relevant theoretical frameworks that are useful for conceptualising and appraising the relationship between your own self-factors/ context with your interactions with families. A focus on worker self-care will be incorporated in this learning. This subject will be offered in a blended learning format including online readings and resources and attendance at four one day workshops at The Bouverie Centre.

03. Integrate findings from analyses of personal and professional contexts with family therapy and other relevant theoretical frameworks to inform analysis and decisions making about the direction and method of change required in interpersonal style and capacities.
04. Integrate theoretical frameworks with knowledge about personal and professional capacities to formulate a self-care plan.
05. Integrate awareness of professional ethics into considerations for improved family work practice.
