Subject outline

The subject will provide a thorough overview of the superannuation and the retirement industry, the framework in which the industry operates and an examination of the role of superannuation and retirement planning within the financial planning process. The subject will include a comprehensive study of different types of superannuation funds, the regulatory framework, funding and benefit structures, investment issues, taxation of superannuation funds and superannuation benefits and the various issues involved in effective retirement planning. The interaction between superannuation and Australia's social security and estate planning system will also be examined.
