2020

Credit points: 15

Subject outline

This subject will provide a broad study of various forms of tragedy and tragi-comedy in Shakespeare and in the drama of his age. Playwrights other than Shakespeare, such as Marlowe, Middleton and Rowley, will also be considered. Discussion of these plays will underpinned by some attention to their historical context, their importance to contemporary cultural consciousness and to current critical approaches. Delivery of the subject is online with one face-to-face seminar per campus during the semester.
