Subject outline

Working on technical industry projects provides invaluable experience to you both at technical design level as well practicing important skills in teamwork, stakeholder engagement, scoping and project management. In this subject you will either work externally in an engineering capacity in a technical work placement, or will work internally in project teams on a design project set by industry or a research laboratory. EMS4WLA is to be taken in conjunction with EMS4WLB, together forming a 60CP capstone experience.

Supervisor ConsultationWeek: 9 - 18
One 1.00 hour supervisor consultation per week on weekdays during the day from week 9 to week 18 and delivered via blended.
Externally placed students will meet weekly with industry supervisors and several points through the semester with an academic supervisor. Internal project teams will meet weekly with an academic supervisor.

WorkShopWeek: 9 - 10
One 3.00 hours workshop other recurrence on weekdays during the day from week 9 to week 10 and delivered via blended.
Students will undertake a 5 day intensive training module as part of the first week of EMS4WLA. Students will learn about research methodology for engineering projects.
