Subject outline

In Professional Experience Secondary C Pre-service teachers apply the principles and practices of effective teaching and learning to independently plan and execute teaching units. Particular attention is paid to integrate university and school-based learning through reflection, observation, inquiry and adaptation in school/educational settings. The assessment task comprises five core components of which a minimum of four must be of a satisfactory standard , and taken collectively, provide confirmation of graduate teachers' readiness to teach. The assessment process also enables graduate teachers to demonstrate how they align curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, taking account of school contexts and learner diversity. Compulsory Professional Experience: pre-service teachers undertake a compulsory 25-day professional experience placement in a school/educational setting.
