The focus of this subject is the student's transition from being a pre-service teacher to a graduate teacher. The subject is organised around themes of essential professional knowledge embodied in the Professional Standards for teachers with a particular focus on Victoria. Topics examined include educational work sites; planning; teacher recruitment practices; performance management; industrial environment; public sector and legislative requirements; strategies for involving, and working effectively, sensitively and confidentially with parents/carers; employment conditions, career planning; mentoring, induction and the development of supportive networks. Students are encouraged to create and manage innovative ideas, through developing an innovative opportunity and illustrating their ability to create innovation in an educational setting.

02. Organise information from multiple sources in order to write a competitive application for an advertised position in a Victorian Government School.
03. Produce an evidence portfolio that illustrates the students ability to meet the expectations of the Selection Criteria for a position in a Victorian Government school.
04. Show case the ability to create and manage innovative ideas.
05. Practicum 4A Primary/Secondary, Primary/Middle Years and EBECE Diploma pathway students only. students only - Take charge of a class, plan, organise, implement and evaluate student learning, working collaboratively with colleagues.
