Subject outline

The teaching practicum A is the first of 3 practicum placements and consists of 20 days of supervised teaching undertaken in the school or TAFE setting. Over the total period for the three teaching practica of 60 days, a minimum of 45 days should be undertaken in a secondary school setting. For Prac 1 (twenty days): Students will take 2 (two) pre-planned lessons per day in their method area; and undertake a minimum of 20 lesson observations. Supervision will be undertaken in the school by the Head of Department or a delegated supervisor who is a trained teacher. La Trobe University supervision will be undertaken at intervals as arranged throughout the practicum.
