In this subject you will develop and critically evaluate the knowledge, skills and competencies to teach science and humanities in primary schools. You will explore innovative pedagogies and core conceptual understandings related to teaching and learning in science and humanities. You will investigate high quality curriculum resources available for teaching science and humanities topics, as well as develop an awareness of the general capabilities and structure of the Australian Curriculum. You will also have the opportunity to examine contemporary issues that influence science and humanities education. You are required to undertake Professional experience of 20 days in the upper years of Primary School (grades 3-6).

01. Demonstrated an understanding of the content knowledge, skills and resources required to plan for effective teaching and learning through a study of the Australian science and humanities curriculum, including the strands, general capabilities and links to appropriate state based curriculum documents.
02. Identified and applied contemporary pedagogical and multidisciplinary approaches, such as the 5E instructional model, inquiry learning, for planning and teaching science and humanities.
03. Investigated age-appropriate, contemporary issues which can be used as a basis to create a planned integrated unit of work from Foundation to year 6, incorporating proposed activities, resources required and planning for assessment.
04. Developed an interactive, online science and humanities resource representing accurate understandings of all strands of the Australian Primary Science Curriculum and the Australian Primary Humanities Curriculum for future practice and implementation.
