Subject outline

In this subject students examine the notion of education as a life-long process, and in particular, learning from birth. Students examine the concept of Early Childhood Education and the evolution of education for young children, with a focus on learning environments designed for young children, such as childcare, playgroup and other early learning settings. This subject contains a hurdle requirement of 20 days of (compulsory) supervised teaching practice.

01. Develop and demonstrate skills in observing, planning, implementing, evaluating and reflecting upon teaching and learning experiences with children three and under.

03. Recognise the importance of family/child/teacher relationships and demonstrate these skills in observation and reflection.
04. Apply legal and moral responsibilities as dictated by the relevant acts and regulations
