This is a core subject in which students develop a firm grounding in language learning, children's literature and literacy. Students have the opportunity to develop foundational understandings of the theories, strategies and practices associated with learning and teaching English in a primary school setting. The subject is structured around the connections between oral language and beginning reading and writing with links to children's literature, ITC skills and the use of ongoing authentic assessment practices to inform teaching. Communicating in a blended learning environment utilising ICT skills are embedded within the subject and utilised in assessment tasks.
