EDU1ISE

2020

Credit points: 15

Subject outline

In this subject first year education students develop core knowledge, skills and dispositions required to be equity oriented teachers. In a climate of cultural safety and exploration, students examine their own cultural identities, representations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and become critically reflective of the historical and socio-economic circumstances that have impacted on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia. Utilising a rights-based perspective, students also learn about current policies and examples of best equitable practice that will inform their future work as teachers in diverse classrooms.
