Subject outline
This subject will support pre-service teachers to position themselves as responsive to and supportive of diversity and inclusion in early childhood education and care settings. You will also develop effective and professional partnerships with families and communities. You will examine the role of teacher relationships and partnerships with families, and the importance of engaging external professional and communities, in the development of inclusive education and care settings. Diverse family contexts, professional resources and a broad range of strategies that support inclusive practice will be critically examined in this subject. Focus will be given to ways in which this knowledge can be applied to maximise the recognition of every child's right to learn, regardless of their developmental trajectory, gender, race, linguistic, cultural and ethnic context, or learning styles and abilities. You will also develop skills that support partnerships with families and communities to empower young children in their education and care.
