Credit points: 5

Subject outline

This subject develops knowledge and skills to enable future study in general university programs including Nursing, Allied Health, Education and Science degrees. The cell, is examined as the basic building block of life with a focus on cell components and cell specialisation. Concepts related to Mendelian Genetics, Evolution and Natural Selection are explored in the context of cell biology. Students develop knowledge of how the structure of a cell relates to its function, and how this applies in the larger scale of human systems . Assessments tasks are based on cumulative development of skills and include a presentation task and a short research report.
