Subject outline
Students develop and enhance their critical thinking skills and critical literacy through the analysis of a diverse range of media and popular cultural texts. In the context of contemporary issues and arguments, students learn to identify a range of persuasive techniques and representational strategies and to recognise that all media is socially constructed. Students are encouraged to engage with differing view points, challenge received knowledge and to question issues of voice, identity, access and power. Through a range of learning tasks, students develop capacity for textual analysis, collaborative group work, reasoning and reflection.
