In this subject you will explore the theoretical and policy issues of international monetary relations at the intermediate level. After introducing the structure and functions of the foreign exchange market, you will deal with issues such as the balance of payments adjustment mechanism, the process of exchange rate determination, the operation of the international monetary system and international economic integration.

02. Examine and describe the responses and behaviour of key macroeconomic variables to different types of shocks by conducting comparative statics analysis using graphical and mathematical techniques.
03. Identify and apply appropriate models/ concepts to analyse issues, assess policy choices and solve computational problems in international macroeconomics using mathematical and graphical techniques.
04. Write concise explanations of the basic concepts and predictions that arise from theoretical models in international monetary economics and discuss the implications.
