This subject provides foundational knowledge and skills concerning the history and various perspectives on sustainable international development. Weekly topics will provide an opportunity for students to critically debate contemporary development perspectives on global issues such as poverty, sustainability, justice, social change and community, as well as question the relevance of concepts such as 'overseas' development assistance. The subject enables students to understand and critically evaluate the dynamics of change in the development sector, and generate new ideas about how development matters to people around the world.
