Subject outline

Organisations in the digital era rely heavily on Information Technology (IT) as an enabler of their business strategy. In this subject you will be introduced to the underlying principles and characteristics of business-IT strategy alignment. You will learn to analyse organisations and their potential for growth and innovation and being competitive using Business-IT strategy alignment maturity model. While organisations align IT with their business strategy to improve customer and business value they also need to factor information management, IT governance, ethics and risks associated with IT implementations which are exposed to social media and cyber attacks. Case studies and IT tools will be used to explore these issues. Ethical and legal issues related to the evolving role of IT professionals will also be covered.
