Subject outline
This subject offers an intensive cultural and social immersion experience in conjunction with the inter-disciplinary Australia-China Student Forum run by the Centre for China Studies and Confucius Institute at La Trobe University. This Asian Studies subject is offered to any second or third year student in any discipline across La Trobe University (experience of learning Chinese language is NOT a prerequisite). The program has both an Australia-based and in-country (China) component, and sees students from Australia and China engaging in a dialogue around an annual theme and gaining deeper intercultural understanding. The program runs in the latter half of second semester with the in-country component following the exam period. Students eligible to receive credit for this subject will have the opportunity to apply for supporting scholarships. These scholarships will contribute to costs associated with the in-country (China) living component of the subject.
