Subject outline

In ART2VMC you will learn about visual culture and its relation to 20th and 21st century art. Discussion will centre on a wide range of cultural and visual material including fine art, fashion, pop culture, film television and video, architecture and literature, as well as the larger cultural and technical apparatus within which such work is experienced. We look at feminism, postcolonialism and decolonialisation, performative practices, ecology, globalization and the relationship between power and vision. The subject builds key skills in visual and textual analysis, independent research and in developing and sustaining a critical argument.
