ARC3RRE

2020

Credit points: 15

Subject outline

Asia is the largest of the continents, home to over half the world's population, and historically the birthplace of some of the world's first civilisations, of global religions, and multiple independent centres of plant and animal domestication. Adopting a thematic approach, this subject presents a comparative overview of the archaeologies of several different regions of Asia, with specific focus upon China, the Indian subcontinent and southeast Asia. From the Bronze Age civilisations of China and South Asia, to the mediaeval empires of Cambodia and Sri Lanka, this subject will teach you about the full range of Asian archaeologies.
