Subject outline

In this subject students will work in collaborative interprofessional teams, to develop their understanding of the foundation concepts that underpin effective professional practice in allied, nursing and human service disciplines. This subject supports the development of foundation academic skills and information literacy required for university study. An Enquiry Based Learning (EBL) approach, using clinical and professional case studies, will be used to support learning and enable students to explore the Australian health care system, the collaborative nature of health care, and how consumers and professionals interact with health care at various levels. Enquiries will also develop foundation knowledge of indigenous and mental health. This subject will enable students to explore their own profession, as well as other health and human service providers. Students will come to understand the therapeutic use of their occupation in various health care scenarios and how different environments can influence consumer access to health care.
