Subject outline
In this subject students investigate, through Problem Based Learning, current research findings in neurosciences in adult stroke rehabilitation. Theories of motor learning, motor control and neuroplasticity will be discussed in relation to unimpaired functioning and neurological re-education. Practical aspects of this subject will be used to extend students' professional handling skills by providing them with experience in the application of motor interventions which integrate motor control and motor learning theory and treating practices. Opportunities for investigations in a range of evidence-based intervention strategies which aim to enhance occupational performances will be provided. New techniques in the assessment and retraining of somatosensations are also presented.
