Subject outline
This subject is a clinical practicum in which students are in supervised clinical practice 4 days per week for 5 weeks plus prescribed independent learning (total subject hours 160). Students will undertake this clinical practicum in different healthcare agencies throughout Victoria and Interstate. Clinical practicums are supervised by registered physiotherapists and may be organised outside normal teaching weeks. Students will develop specific competencies in the assessment of clients'/patients' problems and needs, the analysis of assessment findings, the formulation of short and long term goals and the development, implementation and evaluation of intervention plans. Students at this level will apply specialised knowledge, cognitive and technical skills to demonstrate autonomy, expert judgement, adaptability and responsibility as a learner.

01. Demonstrate professional behaviour appropriate to at least the minimum standard expected for a beginner/entry level physiotherapist.

05. Using an evidence based approach, analyse and interpret assessment findings accurately to identify client's problems and set realistic short and long terms goals.

06. Using an evidence based approach, Select, Perform, Monitor and Progress interventions safely and appropriately in collaboration with the client.

07. Undertakes discharge planning to address client and carer's needs for ongoing care.

08. Is an effective educator/health promoter with client's and caregivers: (a) Demonstrate skill in client education; (b) Develop a realistic self-management plan for prevention and management with the client; (c) Use appropriate strategies to motivate the client and caregiver to participate and to take responsibility for achieving defined goals; (d) Discuss expectations of physiotherapy intervention and its outcomes.
