Subject outline
In this six-week subject students will be introduced to cases relative to children and youth. Students will describe, critique and apply the principles of assessment, intervention and case management for children with problems related to their capacities to engage in activities, occupations and participation in community life. Intervention principles will incorporate those aimed at personal recovery and/or adaptation, as well as environmental supports and barriers including advocacy, organisational change and environmental adaptation. Each week the subject includes four hours of problem-based learning tutorials, eight hours of concepts/skills-based classes and is supported with online learning material. It is expected that in addition, students will engage in at least 10 hours/week of self-directed learning.

Prerequisites Must be admitted in one of the following courses: HZHSOB, HZHSOT or SZPSOT and must have passed OCT4HOB and OCT4ECA or must be admitted in one of the following courses: HZHOTB, HZHOT and must have passed the following subjects: HBS2ALU, HLT2IEP, PHE2HED, OCT3PPI, OCT3OPH, HBS3PAN, PSY2DEV and HLT3CCS or must be admitted in one of the following courses: HMOTH or HMOTPB where no other rule applies.
