Subject outline

In this subject, you will use the principles taught in Principles of Health Informatics A and B to explore technical requirements, skills and processes surrounding the implementation and management of electronic health records (EHRs). Using an enquiry-based learning approach, students will develop an in-depth understanding of design, structural and operational issues related to EHRs such as: EHR structures and architectures, interoperability, privacy and security, person and provider identification, clinical terminologies, clinical decision-support systems, and large data set query and analysis using SQL and business intelligence tools.
