Subject outline

In this subject, students will develop an understanding of nutrition requirements and physiological changes across the lifespan: pre-conception, pregnancy & foetal development, lactation, infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood and ageing as well as special situations including nutrition for sport. Students will also learn about food and nutrition dietary patterns across the different life stages. Students will be able to combine prior nutritional and biosciences knowledge and skills with the new material to gain a more indepth understanding of human nutritional needs, requirements and habits.

Prerequisites Must be admitted in HMDP- Master of Dietetics Practice OR must be admitted in one of: HZHSDP- Bachelor of Health Science and Master of Dietetic Practice or HZNDP - Bachelor of Applied Science and Master of Dietetic Practice AND must pass 240 credit points. OR must be admitted in HBHN - Bachelor of Human Nutrition AND must pass DTN2PNU and (DTN3NDS or HBS2PTB). OR must be admitted in HBHNHK - Bachelor of Human Nutrition (Hong Kong). All other students require subject coordinator approval.
