In this subject students will be introduced to the ever expanding field of bioinformatics. Students will learn how to locate, use and apply commonly available bioinformatics software programs to address biological problems. Students will also be introduced to molecular modeling software used to solve biological problems. This unit requires no prior experience in bioinformatics

01. Use advanced bioinformatics techniques, including database searching, alignments, pattern analysis and predictive study to solve scientific problems. Acquire the ability to assess whether the application of advanced tools and scientific approaches are appropriate for a particular scientific problem in the field of Bioinformatics.
