Choosing subjects

Core subjects are compulsory and electives are subjects where you are free to choose according to your interests and career goals. Staff can help you make final decisions, but you must read through all the information and give it some thought before your enrolment session.

You can read through each subject's content, contact hours and assessment by going to your course in the University Handbook.

In some degrees, electives can only be chosen from science subjects. In other degrees, you can choose electives offered by other faculties. Think about what subjects you would like to do in second year and choose first-year subjects that meet later-year prerequisites.

Check your timetable and make sure that your choices do not clash with core subjects or other electives.

If you need more help, contact your Course Adviser or the Faculty Office at your campus.

If you want to change your electives after enrolment, talk this over with your Course Adviser or Faculty Office staff first.
