Louisiana State University (LSU) is located on more than 2,000 acres of the southern part of the city near the Mississippi River. The campus is known for the 1,200 large oak trees that surround and shade the University. LSU is home to the LSU Tigers and sporting events are a vital part of the LSU community. LSU has over 400 student organizations from leadership programs, intramurals and club sports to Greek councils and student government.

Special conditions/comments

LTU students must purchase US-based health insurance as a condition to participate in semester exchange at Louisiana State University. The Colleges of Veterinary Medicine, MBA program, medical physics/health physics and law are closed to exchange students. Upper-level courses in computer science, mass communication, business and engineering are very competitive and difficult to obtain. Both postgraduate and undergraduate subjects are available (see their website for more details). Postgraduate students must have at least 75% average to be eligible.
