Linnaeus University

Europe, Sweden

Linnaeus University is known for its strong international profile. Every year more than 1,600 international students from all over the world come here to study. The university is the second largest university in southern Sweden, located about 3.5 hours by train from Stockholm and two hours from Copenhagen with campuses in Växjö and Kalmar. The learning environment is characterized by an active student life with teaching and research staff in close proximity to students. Many of the international students mention the informal relationships with the teachers as one of the things they appreciate most as students at Linnaeus University. Other aspects that receive praise are the modern and environmentally-friendly buildings, good connections with businesses and organizations in the area, and the reality-based case studies which add a real-life dimension to the studies. Everything on campus is within five minutes’ walking distance – student accommodations, classrooms, the library, restaurants and pubs, lakes and other leisure facilities. The campus is full of life and energy and is a natural meeting place for all students and interests. Students have full access to a curriculum in humanities, social sciences, media and design, education, peace and development studies, and European/Scandinavian studies all taught in English, as well as Swedish language studies. Courses in computer science, information systems, math, mechanical engineering, physics, business and economics are also available.
