The Pacific Leadership Program - Research, Monitoring and Evaluation support

Institute Staff: Associate Professor Chris Roche and Dr Michael O'Keefe

Collaborators: NA

Funding: Australian Government's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

Status: In progress

The Pacific Leadership Program (PLP) is a regional program of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that supports influential Pacific leaders to shape and lead developmental change. PLP recognises the pivotal role that leadership plays at all levels in a nation's path to development, and the importance of collective efforts to bring about inclusive and durable change for the public good.

Institute staff provided support to the Pacific Leadership Program in developing its monitoring, evaluation and research, with trips to Fiji, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. This has evolved into an umbrella agreement between La Trobe and the program to provide on-going research and monitoring and evaluation support. This support has enabled PLP to develop more robust and innovative systems for assessing and communicating their effectiveness, and to establish four action-research projects.
