Place-based subjects are an award-winning teaching model unique to La Trobe.
These subjects are embedded in community and industry, and delivered in collaboration with key partner organisations. Most place-based subjects cannot be taught from other locations and some are one-off, never to be repeated in the same way again.
Place-based subjects are fully immersive and explore material from a range of angles, often blending diverse disciplines such as creative arts, Indigenous studies, law, business, archaeology, education, science and history.
We are continually developing new place-based subjects, expanding opportunities for community engagement and providing students with unique learning experiences.
Place-based subjects are open to all La Trobe undergraduate students, including international and exchange students. Many place-based subjects are also open to the community and we invite members of the general public to register.
