Dr Jiang is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Alcohol Policy Research (CAPR), School of Psychology and Public Health, La Trobe University. He obtained his Ph.D in Economics from Deakin University. He is leading and working on a number of ARC, NHMRC, NGOs and local government funded research projects, including A Cross-national Study of Alcohol's Harm to Others, International Alcohol Control Study; Cost-effectiveness and Cost-Benefits Analyses on Alcohol and Drug Policies and Intervention Programs; Alcohol Consumption, Consequence and Control Study; and Estimating Effects of Alcohol Pricing Policy on Health, Social and Economic outcomes, and Health Inequalities.

He conducts quantitative and econometric analyses in relation to the harmful use of alcohol and other drugs, with particular research interest on estimating impacts of policy interventions on alcohol, tobacco and drug use, and related social and health issues; links between alcohol and tobacco consumption, non-communicable diseases and injuries.

In the last five years, he has published over 30 journal articles and two books in Addiction and Public Health fields. He has published comment articles in leading health and medical journals, e.g., The Lancet and The Lancet Global Health and his research has been widely cited by public and social media, such as The Washington Post, BBC, ABCThe Telegraph, The Sydney Morning Herald, Bloomberg and etc,.
