Security bus service
Our University security bus service is provided for the safety and well being of the University community.
The Melbourne (Bundoora) campus security unit is committed to the University community being able to traverse the campus with confidence.
During library hours
When the Library is open in the evening, the bus departs every 30 minutes from the east side of the Library (patrons should wait in the Library foyer near the loans desk), commencing 6:00pm until 10:05pm and escorts staff and students to:
- academic buildings
- car parks
- colleges
- University Lodge
- La Trobe Melbourne
- Barnes Way
- Graduate House
- Tram stop
Out of hours service
When the Library is closed and at weekends, an escort can be arranged by telephone (03) 9479 2012. Use only this extension so that emergency lines are kept free.
A security escort will leave University Lodge on an hourly basis from nightfall to 5:00am the following morning.
Escorts will not commence until after dark and cease at 5:30am. This service is provided for people who are alone and who feel their safety is at risk.
Conditions
- The campus bus does not go to Waterdale Road, BM Guesthouse, La Trobe Secondary College, Metrofuel, or the football sheds.
- Security escorts are not provided for groups of 3 or more students between on-campus locations
- Security staff may request to see student ID cards
- Escorts will not be provided for anyone who appears intoxicated or is consuming or carrying alcohol
