Fast track your Master of Teaching

Are you finishing your undergraduate degree in 2020? Interested in a career in education? With La Trobe’s new elective pathway, you can get a head start on a Master of Teaching (Primary) or Master of Teaching (Secondary) degree and a taste of a career in education.

From 2020, you can enrol in EDU3SRC (Schools as a Resource for Change) or EDU3US (Understanding and Supporting Learning). Based on core subjects offered in the Master of Teaching, these brand-new electives provide insight into life as a teacher.

What’s involved?

These electives are worth 15 credit points each and are delivered online. Once they’re complete, you’ll have 15 or 30 credit points towards your Master of Teaching. All you’ll need to do is attend a half-day workshop for each of these new electives in early 2021 to top-up your teaching knowledge.

Or if you decide not to study a Master of Teaching, these electives will still count towards your undergraduate degree.

What are the benefits?

Unlike standard subjects, these top-up modules only require an upfront payment of $150 each, saving you heaps.

Thanks to the elective pathway’s 30 credit point advantage, you’ll only need an additional 14 subjects to complete a Master of Teaching. So full-time students will have the usual two-year course duration, but a lighter study load. Or you can use the timetable space for specialised subjects and take your knowledge of education to the next level.
