Background

These scholarships have been established by the Department of Education and Training to promote alternative pathways to initial teaching education courses. Scholarships of $3000 are available for students commencing the Bachelor of Educational Studies in semester 1, 2020. Scholarships of $2000 are available for current students transferring from the Bachelor of Educational Studies into the Bachelor of Education (Primary or Secondary) or the Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education in semester 1, 2020.

Are you eligible to apply?

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must:

For current Bachelor of Educational Studies students:

  • be an Australian citizen
  • be enrolled in the Bachelor of Educational Studies at the Melbourne (Bundoora), Bendigo, Shepparton or Mildura Campus in Semester 1 and Semester 2, 2019
  • be experiencing financial disadvantage and/or personal hardship
  • have achieved a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 60 in the Bachelor of Educational Studies
  • have submitted an application to course transfer to the Bachelor of Education (Primary or Secondary) or the Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education in Semester 1, 2020

For new Bachelor of Educational Studies students:

  • be an Australian citizen
  • be intending to enrol in the Bachelor of Educational Studies at the Melbourne (Bundoora), Bendigo, Shepparton or Mildura Campus in Semester 1 and Semester 2, 2020
  • be experiencing financial disadvantage and/or personal hardship

Recipients of the scholarship shall be selected by the University based on their:

  • an application form addressing the eligibility criteria and including a personal statement detailing career goals and ambitions and how the scholarship will assist with your studies
  • evidence of financial disadvantage and personal hardship
  • For current students: successful course transfer into the Bachelor of Education (Primary or Secondary) or the Bachelor of Early Childhood and Primary Education in Semester 1, 2020
