English, Theatre and Drama

About the English, Theatre and Drama DRP

The English, Theatre and Drama Disciplinary Research Program (DRP) supports critical and practice-led scholarship and research collaborations by its members within these disciplines. It achieves this by:

  • providing development funding for projects for which external grant income will be sought
  • helping members bring book and performance projects to fruition
  • hosting visits by leading scholars and practitioners
  • funding conferences, symposia and postgraduate masterclasses in areas of shared interest
  • enhancing the research culture and postgraduate experience within the disciplines
  • building capacity by concentrating research around designated research themes
  • encouraging multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborations.

The particular strengths of the DRP in English, Theatre and Drama are recognised in five designated research themes:

  • biography and autobiography
  • literature and creative arts in transnational and intercultural contexts
  • digital literary and theatre and drama studies
  • emotion, affect, and performativity in literature and theatre
  • posthuman and ecocritical approaches to literature and performance.
